On 8 January 2018, A Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF) official, Fatai Atanda expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation by the four clubs representing Nigeria at the upcoming Africa Cups for Clubs Championship (ACCC).

He went further to say that their players were in high spirit and good mood in view of their performances in some of the preparatory matches; while commending the clubs for preparing well he said that there is a need for improvement in some aspects of their in order to emerge champions in Ghana.
